Along with pastoring this terrific community of people at McKendree Chapel, I serve as Professor of Church History and Associate Dean for master's Program at United Theological Seminary in Dayton, OH.
In my spare time, I enjoy traveling to foreign cultures, gardening, and just hanging out with friends. I was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, grew up in Iowa, and left for Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania. After hearing a call to ministry, i moved to North Carolina to study at Duke Divinity School. After pastoring in Bonn, Germany for two years, I then returned to the states to study historical theology at Drew University in New Jersey. Ministry has taken me to Germany, England, and rural Iowa and teaching to as far as Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
My main pastoral and scholarly interests are in the areas of church renewal, discipleship, and Wesleyan Methodist studies. The books I've written include The Band Meeting (with Kevin Watson), Longing for Spring (with Elaine Heath),and Mainline or Methodist? and Foundation for Revival.
